Snapping it up downtown...

So here we are with another installment of the 'making of the snap!-umentary video'. We were a bit chilly while shooting in downtown Providence, but it's so awesome there. A place once though of as the armpit of New England is now such a hip and happening city. We thought it would be a ghost town on a Sunday but it was bustling, like a real city! I love Providence!

As you can see, the very stylish Josh and Heidi were totally in love and smooching like crazy!!! They were so great to work with and out up with the windy chilly elements to create some gorgeous images! They're not hard to look at...

Here are Mariah and Melissa looking on as the action happens. There is a lot of waiting around in film making. We are used to a go go go kind of pace, this was more exhausting!

Snap! on the other side of the camera...

So we spent a very long day yesterday working on a really fun project... a snap!-umentary. We had the talents of Dave Bettencourt and his team working hard to try and make us look good (not an easy task). It's something that we have been thinking about and planning to do for a long time now and it's exciting that it's finally happening. The final project will be a fun video starring the Snap! Girls, so that people can get to know us a little better. It will debut here on the blog and then live on the website. Not sure when but we will let you know.

In the meantime we wanted to share some images from our shoots. Today features the adorable Robin and Patrick at the Botanical Center in Roger Williams Park in Providence. A fantastic location for photos no matter what the weather!

Who made this bouquet??? We did! I think that feathers are entirely underutilized in bouquets!

Here's Mariah doing a little interview, she was really nervous!!!! The sound guy on the other hand was totally relaxed...

Here I am working it with the 'big lens'. It's so fun to use!




Patrick and Robin are so sweet together, very in love as you can tell! You might recognize the lovely Robin from a recent Snap! and Chat about her mad make up skills. How dreamy is this?! Robin's sister did her amazing hair. I believe that she may also be available for some wedding hair along with Robin for make up.





Here I am again with Dave shooting me in the background. We definitely have anew appreciation for how hard it is to be in front of the camera! But I decided that you just have to forget all the self consciousness and go for it. It's the only way the person on the other side of the camera can get the 'good stuff'. I just have to trust Dave to make me look good (or else!).





Thanks to everyone for pulling out all the stops and going to such effort to make this shoot a success! We are so appreciative!!!!!

Wedding Albums Gone Crazy!

We wanted to share some fun stuff with you all! We have just started working with a new album company and their cover colors ROCK!!! We don't have a whole album to show you yet, but we've got one on order and will post that as soon as it comes in. Check it...

Check out all of these sweet fabrics and leathers below. The fun part about this company is that you can customize the cover. For example, you can two different kinds of fabrics, maybe a strip through the middle... You can also do photos on the cover in all kids of configurations. It's so fun!

There are so many that I like for different reasons, but hands down I am totally crazy for the patten leather! Seriously, how cool would a big shiny white patten leather album be? Maybe paired with one of the bumpy green leathers? I will be so excited if someone selects that for their album this year!

Also, we are no offering this classic leather album with the option of a photo on the cover. It's a little less $ than the silk or funky leathers but very lovely. The color choices for this album are a bit more traditional, because not everyone wants a crazy shiny wedding album! So this is a good alternative...

The Snap! Cam visits Emily and Joaquin in Craaaaaanston, RI

Our latest Snap! Cam adventure comes to us from Emily and Joaquin! You might remember them from their fall fabulous photodate at Roger Williams Park.

Joaquin actually lives two hours away from Emily! When we got the camera back I thought that there would be photos of Emily only. Luckily for us the camera arrived on Joaquin's birthday!! (Happy Birthday, Joaquin!) I was very excited to see that he was up for a visit just in time for the Snap! Cam!

For his birthday, Emily got Joaquin his first purple tie! He's going to need it! He just passed his Series 7! Congrats!

Even though it was his birthday Joaquin brought Emily a present, Empanadas! Joaquin's mother made them. He is originally from Argentina so these are the REAL DEAL! They look delicious!!!! I wouldn't be mad if you brought me some, Joaquin


Emily says "Empanada (AKA Argentine Food Heaven)"... YUMMMY!

Here's Joaquin on the computer! These two are computer people! They are both on facebook, AIM, and according to the journal Emily has been chatting us up on the Knot. Thanks, Emily!

Speaking of the journal... WOW! Emily is verbose, to say the least! She filled up half the book!!! It wasn't surprising. She is what I'd like to call a "Chatty Cathy"
For Joaquin's birthday they went to Boston to meet some friends and have a "raspberry mah-gah-ritah"

Here is Joaquin and Emily AKA Wawa and Lilie, their nicknames for each other. Wawa originated when Emily's family were meeting Joaquin for the first time. They didn't want to mispronounce his name so they just made up a new one for him! It's funny because I was actually afraid of saying it wrong when I met him! Why didn't anyone tell me about the Wawa option!! Lilie was the name of Emily's imaginary friend when she was little. She's also known as Emililie, but Joaquin decided on Lilie for her. Because of the name he always brings her bouquets of Lillies! How cute is that?

I bet Emily and her family were excited Joaquin was visiting during a snow storm! He shoveled snow from the driveway...

Emily not so much...

That's a long driveway! Good job, Joaquin!!!

For Christmas Joaquin's mom bought Emily a pair of Onion Goggles! I've never seen these before and I want them! I can't stand cutting onions, but I include them in all my recipes. They look funny, but are her eyes tearing up? NO! Emily has reported that they do indeed work!

This is where Emily's ring lives when it is not on her finger. This box was a gift from Joaquin's family in Argentina.

Happy Birthday!!! Make a wish!

What's that you're doing with your hands? Making an "F" and a "U"... HEY! I thought you liked us! Just kidding! Emily and Joaquin are representin' Fairfield University! FU in the house!

Thanks for letting us peak into your lives! We'll be seeing more of these two in August when I, Melissa, take spectacular photos at their wedding!

Stella and Shane's Photodate with Melissa in Milford, CT 2.1.09

When I first met with Shane and Stella we talked about doing a "winter wonderland" photodate. I thought it was a great idea. There was one little problem... You can't schedule snow! I told them that I would just have to be on call for photo duty. We tried to get it done a few times, but things beyond our control were stopping us. Finally we were able to schedule a time that worked for all four of us - Stella, Shane, me and the snow!

Here they are on the green in Milford. This is actually right across the street from their house. For you RI-ers it's sort of like Blackstone Blvd.

Stella is a cutie pie! Shane, too! On our way over to the green he stopped to help all the little old ladies walk over the ice on their way to church. A true gentleman.

The footprints were working for me.



Before I got there I wanted to find a pine tree of sorts, throw some snow on it and take a photo of Stella's ring. I got lucky! This is exactly what I was thinking of.



Stella and Shane met right before he was going to move to California. He was all packed up! Then Stella came along...

Obviously she was worth sticking around for.

These docks were chained off. Didn't stop Stella! Shane and I had to talk her out of going all the way down to the docks. I'll do anything for a great photo, but the last thing I want is someone falling in icy water on my watch!!

There was this great pedestrian bridge over the water.

Apparently Shane wasn't looking forward to our photodate. Stella said he was sulking the night before it. I must have put him at ease because I do believe he is "working it" in this photo.

Here we are at the duck pond in Milford. This is the cutest bridge to nowhere that I've ever seen!

We took a little stroll around town and I spied this little wall. I think this is a sweet picture.

Then Shane spied this store window! Someone had more fun than they were letting on!! Stella and I were very proud of him for noticing this!

This really was a date! Shane and Stella took me out for lunch when we were at this adorable little restaurant when we were done. They didn't want to send me off hungry. I did have a two hour drive ahead of me...

If you're ever in Milford, CT go eat at this place, BUT get there early! They close at 1pm!

Stella and Shane - it was a pleasure spending the day with you! Thanks so much for showing me around town and filling my belly! I can't wait for the wedding!!!!

Open Casting Call for the Snap! & Chat Series

We want to let everyone know that we are totally open to suggestions for Snap! & Chat subjects.

Right now we are just starting by calling people that we know or have worked with most recently, but the list is long and we don't want to leave anyone out! And since we can only do 1-2 per week it will take a while to get to everyone.

So if you are a bride and have a fabulous vendor that you would like to suggest please feel free to pass that name and info on to us. Or if there is a specific kind of vendor you would like to see, let us know!
